Second Fallout 4 Add-on, Wasteland Workshop, Lets You Capture and Tame Wild Creatures

We’ve known since February that Wasteland Workshop, the second add-on for Bethesda’s Fallout 4 RPG, will be released in April. We didn’t know precisely when in April, though. Now we do.

Wasteland Workshop will be released worldwide for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on Tuesday, April 12, 2016.

Priced at $4.99, it’s half as much as the first add-on, Automatron. But unlike Automatron, it doesn’t put the spotlight on robots, it puts it on wild creatures, such as the dreaded Deathclaw. You see, with Wasteland Workshop you can basically…

Play Pokémon with Deathclaws and other wasteland creatures

The most exciting thing about the Wasteland Workshop add-on is that it lets you capture and tame wild creatures, and even have them face off in battle. “With Wasteland Workshop, you can design and set cages to capture live creatures – from raiders to Deathclaws. Tame them or have them face off in battle, even against your fellow settlers,” says Bethesda.

You’ll have to build different types of cages to capture different types of creatures. Don’t expect to capture a Deathclaw or a Mirelurk if you built a cat cage. But then again, a cat won’t try to rip you to shreds.

Speaking about that, what’s keeping a Deathclaw or Mirelurk from ripping you to shreds? The answer is Beta Wave Emitters. Build such an emitter, turn it on, and it will turn creatures non-aggressive towards you and your settlers.

Moving on…

Wasteland Workshop lets you build more stuff

If you like the settlement building part of the game, you’re going to like that the Wasteland Workshop add-on introduces new design options for your settlements: taxidermy, letter kits, nixie tube lighting, new traps, and even a new Decontamination Arch that purges radiation.

The arch should come in quite handy, especially if you choose to play in Survival Mode. Everything about this mode is meant to make your life miserable. For example: use RadAways to purge radiation and it will add to your fatigue; the more fatigued you are, the less Action Points (AP) you have. On top of that, using RadAways gives you immunodeficiency, which makes you more susceptible to illness.

The next Fallout 4 add-on features a huge, mysterious island

This May, Bethesda will release the third Fallout 4 add-on: Far Harbor. It introduces the largest landmass for an add-on that Bethesda has ever created. On the island, you will find new, higher-level armor and weapons, faction quests, settlements, dungeons, and creatures.

Working on a mission for the Valentine’s Detective Agency, you will get to the mysterious island of Far Harbor. Your goal is to search for a young woman and a secret colony of synths. But it isn’t going to be easy. The radiation has turned Far Harbor into a feral world full of lethal creatures. Conflict is brewing between the locals, the synths, and the Children of Atom. Will you help restore the peace?

Priced at $24.99, Far Harbor is going to be the most expensive Fallout 4 add-on so far.
