What do you do when you visit a web page and want to search for a specific item that you know is somewhere on that web page? You could take a look at the sitemap, or you could simply type in a query in the search box. The thing is that not all web pages out there have a search box like we here at FindMySoft do, meaning that searching for content can prove to be a hassle – but not if you are a Mozilla Firefox user and you get the right add-on.

Site Search is an add-on for the Mozilla developed Firefox browser that performs one simple task: it functions a search box for the web pages that do not have one. Developer David Wilson explains: “This extension provides facilities to search within the current site using the search engine currently selected in the searchbar. Searches can be initiated either from the searchbar by entering the search terms into the searchbar and then clicking on the new "Search Site" icon, or by selecting text within a page and then right-clicking on the selected text and clicking on the "Search Site for selection" context menu item.”

The Search Site add-on works with Firefox 3.0 up to Firefox 3.5 Beta 4. If you would like to get it, a download location is available here.

With Search Site out of the way, we can now move on to the second search friendly Firefox add-on: KwiClick. In order to present what this add-on does, let’s take a look an example. Let’s say that you are browsing the web using Mozilla’s Firefox browser and at some point you want to perform a search on Google, Wikipedia, Twitter, Amazon, YouTube, FriendFeed and other sites. In normal conditions you would open a new tab and access any of the aforementioned web pages. With KwiClick you need not do that; the add-on will perform the search for you and will open a mini-browser in your browser’s window to display the results (something like picture-in-picture). This way you can search away on YouTube for example, without leaving the site you were previously browsing.

If you would like to get KwiClick, a download location is available here.
