Say the Same Thing: The 50 Billionth App Downloaded from the App Store

Apple just announced that 50 billion apps have been downloaded from the App Store. Say the Same Thing, the 50 billionth app, was downloaded by Brandon Ashmore. For this he was rewarded with a $10K gift card.

“Apple would like to thank our incredible customers and developers for topping 50 billion apps downloaded,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services. “The App Store completely transformed how people use their mobile devices and created a thriving app ecosystem that has paid out over nine billion dollars to developers. We’re absolutely floored to cross this milestone in less than five years.”


At the start of the month we were announcing that the App Store is about to hit 50 billion downloads. Today we are glad to announce the 50 billion mark has been reached. Apple just announced that Say the Same Thing by by Space Inch was the 50 billionth app to be downloaded from the App Store. It was downloaded by Brandon Ashmore of Mentor, Ohio, USA. For being the one to download the 50 billionth app, Brandon received a cool $10,000 App Store Gift Card.

Say the Same Thing is a word game that is described in the App Store as “a funny, unpredictable, mind-melding, turn-by-turn game where you have to think like your friends!” You have to start out from two random words, say something they both have in common, and keep going until both you and the other play say the same thing. You win if you both say the same thing in the same round. Check out the video below for a quick look at what this app is all about.
