Samsung Electronics was glad to announce that its ChatOn messenger app is being used by more than 100 million people around the world.

The interesting thing is that ChatOn’s popularity saw a significant boost in recent months. You see, the app has been around since October 2011. From October 2011 until May 2013, the app managed to get 50 million users. But from May 2013 until the end of September 2013, in just four months, the app’s userbase doubled, reaching 100 million users.

“ChatON’s growth can be attributed to the support it offers across international markets and various OS platforms,” explained Samsung. “The service provides a seamless experience where users can access ChatON through PCs, Samsung feature phones, and all the major smartphone operating systems: Android, iOS, Blackberry and Windows Phone. ChatON’s multi-screen support also allows users to sign-in on up to five different devices using one Samsung account ID.”

There is another reason why Samsung’s ChatON app is growing in popularity: the fact that the company bundles it with its Galaxy devices. The app is available by default on the Galaxy S3 and S4, Note 2 and 3, the Galaxy Gear, and other Galaxy models.
