Samsung and NBA Enter Multiyear Partnership

Today, the 28th of October, Samsung Telecommunications America and the National Basketball Association entered a multiyear partnership. As Samsung explained, this is a “comprehensive multiyear marketing and technology partnership that will enhance the game and deepen the fan experience.”

This is Samsung’s most extensive partnership with a North American sports league. And it is the NBA’s most extensive partnership with a consumer electronics company.

On Monday, the 28th of October, Samsung announced that it entered a partnership with the NBA. And more to the point, Samsung Telecommunications America entered into a multiyear marketing and technology partnership with the National Basketball Association (NBA).

This makes Samsung the official handset, tablet, and television provider for the NBA, WNBA (Women’s National Basketball Association), and NBA D-League (NBA Development League).

“With this partnership Samsung and the NBA are committed to elevating the future of the game with innovative product and service solutions for the players, coaches, referees and fans.” said Todd Pendleton, Chief Marketing Officer for Samsung Telecommunications America. “With these new experiences players will be able to take their game to the next level while fans will be able to engage in new ways with their favorite teams and players.”

Samsung – NBA Partnership Details
  • NBA referees will get Samsung tablets and will use Samsung technology courtside in all NBA arenas.
  • Samsung devices will be used by the NBA during key league events.
  • Samsung and the NBA will offer lots of NBA content.
  • Samsung will be the title partner of NBA Summer League.
  • Samsung will be a will be an associate partner of NBA All-Star Jam Session.
  • Samsung will have a significant presence on NBA national game telecasts.
  • Samsung will be the presenting partner of NBA TV’s NBA Inside Stuff.
  • Samsung will be the presenting partner of the NBA D-League showcase.
  • Samsung will be the title partner of the WNBA Performance Awards.
