Samsung Unveils New Wearable Devices: Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo, Gear Fit

If you’re going to get a new Galaxy S5 smartphone, you may want to pair it with one of the new wearable devices Samsung recently presented.

Three new wearable devices were presented by Samsung: Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo, and Gear Fit.

The main thing everyone is talking about is the unveiling of the new Galaxy S5 smartphone. It is exciting news indeed! But we must not forget that Samsung also unveiled some new wearable devices, devices that will go very nice together with your new Galaxy S5. The new devices in question are the new Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo, and Gear Fit.

Samsung Gear 2 - Smart Companion Device



Gear 2 Tech Specs
  • Processor: 1.0 GHz Dual Core Processor.
  • Memory: 512MB RAM memory, 4GB internal memory.
  • Display: 1.63” Super AMOLED (320 x 320).
  • Dimension: 36.9 x 58.4x 10.0 mm, 68g.
  • Camera: 2MP auto focus camera.
  • Sensors: accelerometer, gyro, heart rate.
  • Connectivity: Bluetooth 4.0 LE, IrLED.
  • Colors: Charcoal Black, Gold Brown and Wild Orange.

Samsung Gear 2 Neo - Just Like the Gear 2, But No Camera



The tech specs for the Gear 2 Neo are pretty much the same as the ones for the Gear 2. Focusing on the differences alone, it must be mentioned that:
  • The Neo is lighter, it weighs in at 55g instead of 68g.
  • The Neo does not have a camera.
  • The color options for the Neo are a different (Charcoal Black, Mocha Grey and Wild Orange).



I mentioned above that you can pair the Gear 2 or Gear 2 Neo with your new Galaxy S5. The thing is that these wearable devices provide support for many other Galaxy devices. At launch, the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo provides support for more than a dozen Galaxy smartphones.

  • Connectivity: Bluetooth 4.0 LE.
  • Battery: standard 210mAh battery.
  • IP67 dust and water resistant, just like the Galaxy S5.
  • Changeable straps.
