The new Galaxy Round will be released in Korea tomorrow. This is the first smartphone in the world to feature a curved display.

To be more precise, the Galaxy Round features a 5.7” Full HD Super AMOLED curved display. The smartphone itself is only 7.9mm thick and weighs in at a mere 154g.

Exciting news for smartphone users around the world comes from Samsung. Today, the company introduced the first full HD Super AMOLED flexible display. The smartphone to feature it is called Galaxy Round and will go on sale in Korea tomorrow, October 10th.

Here’s how the Galaxy Round looks like (images provided by Samsung Tomorrow).

The Galaxy Round will have a feature called Roll Effect. Thanks to this feature you can check the time, view missed calls, or see the battery level when the screen is off. When you roll the device, the date, time, missed calls, battery level and other information will be displayed on the device’s curved screen.

The Galaxy Round will have another feature that will let you interact with the smartphone when the screen is off: Bounce UX. It works something like this: the music player runs in the background and the screen is off; a short press to the left will play the previous track; a short press to the right will play the next track.

Taking the spotlight of the Galaxy Round’s software features and putting it on its hardware specs, it must be said that the smartphone will have a 2.3 GHz MSM 8974 quad-core processor, 3GB of RAM memory, 32GB of internal storage space, a 2,800mAh battery, a 13MP rear camera, and a 2MP front camera.

When it goes on sale in Korea, the Galaxy Round will be available in just one color: Luxury Brown. Samsung explained that more colors will be available in the future.
