Multinational conglomerate company Samsung unveiled the 7-inch Galaxy Tab 3 tablet this week and announced that the WiFi version will go on sale this May. The 3G version will be rolled out later on – in June to be more precise.

Samsung is getting ready to roll out the third generation of its Galaxy Tab 7-inch tablet. The global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies announced on Monday that the WiFi version of Galaxy Tab 3 will be available globally this March and the 3G version this June. If you want to know that will be 'underneath the hood', the device’s specifications are presented below.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Specs
  • Display – 7 inch WSVGA(1024 x 600, 169 PPI) TFT.
  • Processor – 1.2 GHz dual core processor.
  • RAM memory - 1GHz.
  • Storage - 8/16GB internal memory; microSD slot (up to 64GB).
  • Camera – 3-megapixel rear camera, 1.3-megapixel front camera.
  • Connectivity and sensors – WiFi, 3G, Bluetooth, USB 2.0, GPS, accelerometer, light, proximity, geomagnetic.
  • Battery – Li-Ion 4,000 mAh standard battery.

The device will be powered by Google’s Android operating system, of course. And more to the point, Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 will feature Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Google’s usual host of services will also be available on the tablet: Google Search, Gmail, Google Play Store, Google Plus, YouTube, Google Talk, Google Maps (Turn-by-turn Navigation), Google Now.

Samsung touted the fact that with the new Galaxy Tab 3 it “evolved its range of innovative tablets, making them smaller and easier to carry, while increasing the user experience overall.” The company explained that the Tab 3 is very easy to hold with one hand, compact enough to fit in a small bag, plenty powerful with its 1.2Ghz dual core processor, and perfectly equipped to capture important moments with its camera.

In related news, earlier this month Samsung unveiled another interesting device – one that blends the differences between smartphone and tablet. The device I am talking about is the new Samsung Galaxy Mega, a cheaper alternative to the Galaxy Note 2. Read more about this topic here.
