Update, September 6: Samsung rolled out a hands-on video that presents the key features of the Note 3 and the Gear.

Samsung recently unveiled the third edition of its Galaxy Note smartphone (and its Galaxy Gear smart companion). Here’s a quick look at the Galaxy Note 3’s main new hardware specs and software offering.

Galaxy Note 3 – Main Hardware Specs
  • 5.7 inch or 144.3mm full HD Super AMOLED display.
  • 2.3GHz quad-core processor or 3GHz octa-core processor, depending on the market.
  • 3GB of RAM memory.
  • 13MP rear camera with Smart Stabilization and high CRI LED flash.
  • 2MP front camera.
  • 3,200 mAh battery.
  • WiFi, GPS, NFC, Bluetooth, IR LED.
  • Dimensions: 151.2 x 79.2 x 8.3mm, 168g.
  • Soft and textured back cover.
  • Colors: Jet Black, Classic White and Blush Pink.

Galaxy Note 3 – Main Software Offering
  • Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system
  • Air Command – use the enhanced S Pen to access five useful features: Action Memo, Scrapbook, Screen Write, S Finder, and Pend Window.
  • Action Memo – write memos that are linked to actions.
  • Scrapbook – organize content from various sources.
  • Screen Write – full screen capture; write messages on the capture.
  • S Finder – search for content on your device.
  • Pen Window – open another application window without pausing current activity on the screen.
  • My Magazine – news and social media content is displayed in a dynamic magazine-style layout.
  • Enhanced Multi Window so you can open the same app in two windows and move content between apps with the Drag and Drop mode.
  • Samsung KNOX lets you run and store security-sensitive applications and data inside a protected container.
