Following the success of the Galaxy S6 Edge, Samsung introduced a new device that carries the “edge” moniker: the Galaxy BLADE Edge.

It is Samsung’s and indeed the world’s first smart knife. More details are available below.

If you’re already familiar with Samsung’s Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, get ready to be blown away. Samsung introduced the new Galaxy BLADE Edge, a device that comes with all the amazing features of the Galaxy S6 but, because it is sharp and strong, it can serve as a chef’s knife. It could replace all the knives in your kitchen and prove to be “the ultimate cooking companion.”

Samsung Galaxy BLADE Edge – Main Features
  • Ergonomic Ceramic Body – the body is made of a patented ceramic that is stronger than steel and lighter than plastic.
  • Diamond Design – beautiful diamond-cut finish and a razor-sharp diamond edge. Nothing sticks to the edge because Samsung revolutionized the cooking knife’s surface tension.
  • 50% Speed Boost – by using the Galaxy BLADE Edge you can chop, cut, slice and dice up to 50% faster. A set of sensors and algorithms will analyze your grip, dexterity and strength and they will set the weight in optimal proportion to create the perfect rhythm and inertia.
  • No Cuts – KNOX, Samsung’s mobile security platform, will ensure that you will never cut yourself. There’s a finger-detection mechanism that will retract the BLADE before it cuts skin. Speaking of which, it must be mentioned that there’s a human blood sensor that prevents the BLADE from being used in violent situations. If the sensor detects human blood, it will automatically call the authorities.
  • No Germs – KNOX will detect and alert you about germs in the ingredients or on the surface of your cooking top.
  • S-Thermometer – the S-Pen stylus doubles as a thermometer.
  • Water- and fire-proof.
Here’s Samsung Tomorrow’s visual presentation of the new Galaxy BLADE Edge.

April Fools' Day is a great time for companies to show their goofy side. This year, Samsung jokingly introduced the Galaxy BLADE Edge. Last year, back in 2014, it jokingly introduced Samsung Fingers, the company’s first smart glove. It has a feature called “Flatulence Auditory Reproduction”. Pull a certain finger of Samsung Fingers and the device will reproduce a sound – the sound of flatulence, of course.
