Rovio Entertainment decided to shake hands with Lucasfilm and come up with a new Star Wars-themed Angry Birds edition: Angry Birds Star Wars.

If you are a fan of the incredibly popular Angry Birds game and if you’re also a fan of the Star Wars blockbuster entertainment franchise, I have some very exciting news for you: Rovio Entertainment partnered up with Lucasfilm in order to come up with a new, Star Wars-themed Angry Birds edition.

The appropriately named Angry Birds Star Wars is scheduled for a worldwide release on November 8th. The game will be available for iOS, Android, Amazon Kindle Fire, Mac, PC, Windows Phone, and Windows Phone 8.

Besides Angry Birds Star Wars, a game that will take you from the deserts of Tatooine to the depths of the Death Star, Rovio will also launch some cool Angry Birds Star Wars merchandise: collectible plush toys, action figures, Halloween costumes, and other things of the sort. The merchandise will be released a bit sooner than the game – on the 28th of October.

Peter Vesterbacka, the Mighty Eagle and CMO of Rovio, had this to comment on the new Angry Birds Star Wars game:
“This is the best Angry Birds game we’ve ever done. It’s the best parts of Angry Birds with all new cutting-edge gameplay set in in a galaxy far, far away. As a big Star Wars fan myself, I’m really excited about this new universe. The Force is definitely strong with this one.”

And here is what Colum Slevin, Vice President, Head of Studio Operations for Lucasfilm Ltd, had to comment on the upcoming Angry Birds Star Wars edition:
“Both Star Wars and Angry Birds share the instant and irresistible appeal of hands-on fun. People seem to instinctively know what to do when handed a lightsaber or a bird in a slingshot, so this is a natural combination.”
