Social media monitoring service Reppler has recently shared a few tips on how a professional could properly manage his professional image on Twitter and how he could use the popular micro-blogging site to his professional advantage. With more than 100 million active users, and with pretty much everyone out there on Twitter, professionals can show off their expertise, engage with industry leaders and companies, and increase their visibility.

An ever-increasing number of companies are turning to Twitter to find new employees. Twitter is shaping up to be a very popular social recruiting platform, just like Facebook. It is thus important for any professional to manage his image on Twitter. Here’s what Reppler advises.

Reppler’s first tip is to tweet about industry topics, to follow industry leaders, and to retweet any interesting material you find. Engaging in discussion’s doesn’t hurt either, especially if you contribute meaningful content.

The second thing Reppler advices professionals to do is to create an informative profile that concisely provides info about them. To catch the attention of recruiters and hiring managers, make sure to include keywords that are applicable to your background and experience.

Twitter represents a great opportunity to promote yourself. Reppler’s third tip is to take advantage of this opportunity. You should use Twitter to link to your website, blog or LinkedIn account, post links to your work, and direct followers to the most relevant and engaging part of your website. Your overall goal here is to promote yourself in a non-annoying way.

Others will most likely tweet about you, re-tweet your tweets, and speak about you. Reppler’s fourth tip is to make sure you monitor what others say about you.

Moving on, Reppler’s fifth tip is to follow the companies you would like to work for and try to engage in discussions with potential employers. And the sixth and final tip is to search out and follow recruiters and to let others know that you’re looking for a job.

“If you use Twitter effectively and responsibly, it can be a great starting point in your job search. But never forget how important it is to maintain a professional online image!” said Reppler.

Founded by Vlad Forelik, former Vice President of cloud services with AVG, Reppler is a social media monitoring service that will help you keep your social reputation clean and safe. And more to the point, it is a service that makes you aware of inappropriate content, shows you how others could perceive you, highlights public info that should be private, and flags malicious links.
