FilesTube, multimedia files search engine, catalog, and source for online games, freeware, and lyrics, is owned by Polish company Red-Sky. After news broke out that Yahoo! Messenger does not let users share FilesTube links, the company has responded.

Red-Sky CEO Arkadiusz Senko said that the had no idea that Yahoo! Messenger doesn’t let users share FilesTube links and said he has no idea why Yahoo! would block these links since FilesTube is a legal search engine that meets all the legal requirements of Europe and the US. Senko said that he’s shocked by this blocking of FilesTube links and advised Yahoo! Messenger users to switch to another instant messaging application.

“We are shocked by Yahoo Messenger to censor the Internet, and thus the actions of our users who use FilesTube.com for legal media. We would like to point out that we also have a video section, where the aggregated videos from YouTube or Dailymotion are placed. It seems to us that Yahoo has taken action to block links to competing sites. In such a situation it lefts us nothing but to recommend users to use other instant messengers, respectful of freedom of the Internet,” said Senko for TorrentFreak, site that specializes in everything torrent related and who broke the news.

If you didn’t catch yesterday’s Yahoo! Messenger: You Can Share Stuff, But Not FilesTube Links article, here’s the breakdown:
- If you try to send someone a FilesTube link in Yahoo! Messenger, that someone will not receive the link.
- If you try to post a FilesTube link as your status in Yahoo! Messenger, you will be presented with the message “Abuse content found. Please modify your status update and share it again.”

The funny thing is that the link will be displayed in Y! Updates. Yahoo! Messenger didn’t let me post a FilesTube link as my status, yet the update George linked to [...] FilesTube link showed up in Y! Updates (yes, I added myself to my friends list, that’s how I saw the update).
