After having reported record first day pre-orders of 4 million for its new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, Apple now reported record first weekend sales of 10 million.

The first day the new device became available for pre-order, more than 4 million people rushed to pre-order it. After the new device hit the market, in just three days or market availability, more than 10 million people managed to purchase a new iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus.

4 Million Pre-orders in Just 1 Day

Early September, Apple got everyone hyped up when it introduced its new iPhones – the new iPhone 6 and the new iPHone 6 Plus. These new smartphones are 6.9mm and 7.1mm thin, have a 4.7 and a 5.5-inch Retina HD display, a precision unibody enclosure of anodized aluminum, a powerful A8 chip, and more.

On the 12th of September, when the new iPhone became available for pre-order, millions of people rushed to get one. To be more precise, more than 4 million people pre-ordered the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

Interest in the new iPhones was so high that it took Apple by surprise. You see, the company wasn’t ready for so many pre-orders; demand for the new iPhones exceeded Apple’s initial pre-order supply. Some of the people who pre-ordered a new iPhone got it on the 19th of September, some had to wait a bit longer.

10 Million Purchases in Just 3 Days

The 19th of September is the date when the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus went on sale in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, and Singapore.

In just three days of market availability, Apple managed to sell more than 10 million iPhones.

“Sales for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus exceeded our expectations for the launch weekend, and we couldn’t be happier,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “We would like to thank all of our customers for making this our best launch ever, shattering all previous sell-through records by a large margin. While our team managed the manufacturing ramp better than ever before, we could have sold many more iPhones with greater supply and we are working hard to fill orders as quickly as possible.”

115 Countries by the End of the Year

As mentioned above, the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus is available for purchase in the following countries: US, UK, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, and Singapore.

This Friday, September 26, the new iPhone will become available for purchase in 20 more markets. By the end of the year, the new iPhones will be available in 115 countries around the world.
