Rovio Entertainment announced today that multiplayer mode has rolled out to its Angry Birds Go! downhill racing game. This means that you can now race against real opponents in Angry Birds Go!

“This is the first part of Angry Birds Go! Multiplayer, and brings the quick race mode where you’re matched against the performance of three other players,” said Rovio Entertainment. “Will you come out on top and leave them in your dust? For an even more personal experience connect to Facebook and you’ll be pitted against your friends to show them who’s the boss.”

Angry Birds Go!, a free-to-play downhill race game set on a 3D Piggy Island, lets you enjoy high-octane racing action on your iPhone, Android, Windows Phone, or BlackBerry. The game features over 50 different soapbox karts, lets you upgrade your kart, lets you pick your favorite characters from the Angry Birds games, features unique special powers for said characters, and features crazy stunt and air tracks. What it does not feature though is multiplayer – until now that is.

Today, Rovio Entertainment announced that Angry Birds Go! features multiplayer capabilities. Quick race mode lets you race against real opponents – three real opponents to be more precise. If you choose to connect with your Facebook, you don’t have to race against strangers – you can race against your friends.

“Multiplayer Part 1 is asynchronous, so your opponents don’t have to be online when you race – but you will still challenge them bumper to bumper and beak to beak nevertheless!” explained Rovio Entertainment. “This update is today out for iOS but it's coming out for Android in the very near future. Remember, this is just the beginning and there’s more multiplayer news coming soon, so watch this space!”
