Protect your Windows OS at No Cost: Free Antivirus Security Solutions

The Windows-based operating system is by no means perfect, and one of the areas that constantly needs monitoring is security. There are a multitude of security threats out there targeting your Windows system, things like Trojans, spyware, adware, viruses, and so on. It is thus vital that you keep your system protected; but what if you do not have money to spare and would much rather take advantage of free security solutions?

Check Point Software for example just recently put out an enhanced version of their security product, ZoneAlarm Extreme Security. Despite the fact that it boasts a long list of features, a 3 user license will set you back about $70. Divided to three people it amounts to approximately $25 per individual, which may not seem much to you, but it is more than some people are willing to spend. The same applies to Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 – a 1 user, 1 year license will set you back precisely $59.95. Keep in mind that we are in the middle of a financial crisis and people are losing their jobs (and walking away with confidential corporate data while leaving the premises).

Luckily enough there are security solutions that you can download and use for free. There are two main reasons why a software developer will give you such a product at no cost whatsoever:

The first one is that you might like the free software so much that you will be willing to shell out a few bucks for the paid version of the same software (which usually comes with a few extras).

The second reason is that by giving home users a free taste of their security software they get people to talk about how good their application is; this is free advertising that might lead corporate customers to their

Be careful when installing those free security solutions as most of the times they attempt to install toolbars as well.
