One of the best security software applications out there is without a doubt Kaspersky Anti-Virus (KAV for short) and Kaspersky Internet Security (KIS). When it comes to protecting your Windows-powered PC from various online threats, going with the protection provided by Kaspersky is a properly good choice. But what about Mac users? The days when viruses and worms only targeted Windows computers are gone. Cybercriminals now target Macs just as much as they target PCs, seeing how the number of Mac users has increased considerably. Not to mention the fact that Macs and PCs intermingle much more than they did in the past.
To ensure that Mac users stay safe in an ever-increasing threatscape, the Moscow-based company that specializes in providing antivirus, antispyware, antispam and intrusion prevention products has released Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Mac. As Kaspersky puts it, the new software application is meant to strengthen the level of security provide by Apple while at the same time offering a platform on which extra security models can be added.
Here is what you can expect to get from this security software application:
- Protection against viruses, worms and Trojans
- Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Mac also combats Windows and Linux threats
- Designed to appeal to the Mac user. The Mac style UI is easy to set-up and configure, even by novice users.
- Protection status and necessary user actions are presented in graphic format (very easy to understand)
- Automated Mode that makes decisions automatically without disturbing the user
- Access to Kaspersky’s global antivirus database where information on more than 20 million malicious programs is found.
- Antivirus database updated hourly.
Managing Director Kaspersky Lab Europe, Andreas Lamm, comments: “Apple's success in growing market share has been reflected with increased interest from cybercriminals. Over the last nine months we have seen a rapid escalation in Mac threats which have gained much publicity within the Apple community. Apple has done an adequate job protecting its users against a limited threat. As a world leader in software security Kaspersky Lab can considerably strengthen a Macs defences. It is our business to understand the techniques of cybercriminals and protect our customers. And: we are very good at it.”
Please note that Kaspersky Anti-virus for Mac will become available for purchase on the 15th of October.
