Surely you know that the internet is home to a myriad of security threats. You also know that you need to use a properly good security software solution to keep your systems safe and protected. What you may not be aware of is that BitDefender, company that specializes in developing security software solutions, has released its first antivirus solution for Macs.

The antivirus solution released by BitDefender offers Mac users the same level of security Windows users have come to expect from the award winning software developed by the Romanian company.

I will be the first to admit that there are fewer security threats out there targeting Macs than there are threats targeting Windows PCs. But this is not to say that there are no Mac security threats. According to BitDefender, the company is aware of more than 270 different threats that specifically target the Mac OS X operating system. These threats vary from DNS changing malware to browser hijacking and ads that lure users to download rogues (scareware or fake antivirus programs).

BitDefender Antivirus for Mac provides adequate protection against threats that target the Mac OS X. It also provides protection against threats targeting other platforms that may pass through the Mac environment.

“Although there are fewer threats targeted towards Mac users, it only takes one threat to lose sensitive information, valuable data or an identity. Mac users should still be taking pre-emptive measures to ensure that their systems remain safe,” said Senior Researcher with BitDefender, Catalin Cosoi. “BitDefender Antivirus for Mac is a crucial addition to our suite of leading antivirus security solutions, and it’s critical for businesses and consumers to recognize the growing vulnerability of their Mac systems and take the necessary steps to protect their data and sensitive information.”

Here is a list of BitDefender Antivirus for Mac features:
  • Real-time Antivirus Protection
  • Extended Detection
  • Optimized performance
  • Intelligent Virus Scanner
  • Familiar Mac Interface
  • Automatic updates
  • Professional Technical Support
