The great thing about a portable software application, besides the fact that it does not require an installation, is the fact that you could always stick it onto a USB storage device for example and take that app with you anywhere you go. This way, even though you are not using your own computer, you can always use the apps that you need the most.

PortableApps.com Suite 1.5, as the name so adequately points out, is a collection of the most popular and most used software programs out there, all in portable form. Besides a long list of apps, which we will get into momentarily, PortableApps.com Suite 1.5 also features a platform which comes with a popup menu that makes an appearance when you plug in your USB storage device.

With version 1.5, certain changes have been made: new themes, rename app icons, hide icons, run apps as admin, enhanced language support (37 languages).

PortableApps.com provides a truly open platform that works with any hardware you like (USB flash drive, iPod, portable hard drive, etc). The PortableApps.com Suite and Platform is free. It contains no spyware. There are no advertisements. It isn't a limited or trial version. Now you can carry your favorite computer programs along with all of your bookmarks, settings, email and more with you. Use them on any Windows computer. All without leaving any personal data behind,” explains PortableApps.com.

Here are the software applications that come bundled with PortableApps.com Suite 1.5:
- Mozilla Firefox
- Mozilla Thunderbird
- ClamWin antivirus security solution
- Pidgin instant messaging (IM) client
- Sumatra PDF reader
- KeePass password manager
- Mines-Perfect game
- CoolPlayer+ audio player
- PNotes
- OpenOffice or AbiWord, depending on what suite version you go for.

Speaking of PortableApps.com Suite 1.5 versions, it must be said that there are 2 to choose from: Light and Standard. There are little differences between the two; as you can imagine, the Standard version is larger, but not because it has more portable software apps, simply because instead of AbiWord it features OpenOffice.

But if you get the PortableApps.Com platform alone, you can then choose the portable apps you want and need – and the offering is more than sufficient (not just the ones presented above).
