Pokken Tournament for Wii U to Be Released Worldwide in Spring 2016

Pokkén Tournament, the popular arcade fighting game that brings characters from the Pokémon franchise to life, will be released worldwide this spring. It will become available for Wii U consoles in the spring of 2016. Right now, Pokkén Tournament for Wii U is available in Japan only. It was released in Japan this July.

“Pokkén Tournament combines the best elements of a traditional fighting game with an authentic Pokémon experience,” said J.C. Smith, director of Consumer Marketing at The Pokémon Company International. “Fans will be thrilled to see their favorite Pokémon battle in a whole new way.”

The Pokémon Company International and Nintendo provided a release date for the Pokkén Tournament arcade hit – sort of. The companies announced that Pokkén Tournament for the Wii U, which is currently available in Japan only, will be released to the rest of world in the spring of 2016. So come next year, every Wii U customer in the world will be able to get the game.

Developed in collaboration with BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment, the game features: exciting fighting action, intuitive controls, and stunning visuals.

“Pokémon fans are some of the most dedicated and passionate in the world,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “Pokkén Tournament gives players a new way to experience their favorite Pokémon characters, and the Wii U console is the perfect platform to bring those experiences to life.”
