Plunder Pirates: Take to the High Seas, Become the Most Notorious Pirate Captain

As part of the Rovio Stars publishing initiative, Rovio will roll out Midoki’s online multiplayer free-for-all Plunder Pirates game come the 18th of September (one day after Apple rolls out the iOS 8 mobile operation system to the public).

This pirate-themed game tasks you with becoming the most formidable pirate in the world – take to the high seas as a cut-throat buccaneer and become the most notorious pirate captain that ever sailed the seven seas! You will have to build your own pirate island, recruit a crew of fearless pirates, unearth hidden treasure, and battle rival pirate captains.

Rovio Stars is Rovio Entertainment’s mobile game publishing initiative. It can be quickly described like this: Rovio finds interesting games created by talented developers and presents said games to a large audience. Since Rovio is a big name in the industry, when it publishes a game, people take interest.

So far, several games have been published as part of the Rovio Stars initiative:
  • Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage – help the stranded Viking by using your icebreaking skills. Avoid trolls, deadly traps, dangerous enemies, and more.
  • Tiny Thief – a puzzle-solving, hidden-objects adventure game set in a medieval fantasy world full of surprises.
  • Juice Cubes – fun, fruity, and free puzzle game; connect the cubes to create explosive fruit bombs.
  • Word Monsters – fun, social, monster-themed word game.
One the 18th of September, another game will be published as part of the Rovio Stars initiative: Plunder Pirates, an online multiplayer free-for-all from industry veterans Midoki.

Plunder Pirates – Main Features
  • Your own pirate island – create your very own 3D pirate island and spin it 360Ëš to see its every detail.
  • Your own pirate crew – recruit a crew of grog-swilling pirates; 10 fearless pirates with unique skills and traits are available for hire in the tavern.
  • Sail the high seas – explore uncharted waters and battle giant sea monsters, sink merchant ships, and unearth hidden treasure.
  • Fight and plunder – as a true pirate, you will get to ransack enemy islands and battle rival captains.
  • Pirate guild – you can either create a pirate guild with your friends or you can join an existing guild.
As previously mentioned, Plunder Pirates will be rolled out on September 18.
The game is out early in select locations: Canada, Austria, and Finland.
