Rovio Entertainment and its new publishing arm LVL11 soft-launched an interesting new game called Selfie Slam. Currently available for iOS users in Canada, Sweden, and Finland, the game gets you to play various oddball challenges, like king of the hill, bomber, soccer, or volleyball.

You will play through these challenges using an avatar built around one of your selfies. A kooky avatar made up of your selfie and a custom combination of weird limbs and outrageous outfits.

Selfie Slam – Create a Kooky Avatar

The goal, as Rovio and LVL11 put it, is to “unleash your imagination as you create the kookiest avatar ever.” The focal part of the avatar is your face – or to put it in other words, you start building your avatar around a selfie. After you snap a selfie, you can pick a custom head, body, left arm, right arm, left leg, and right leg.

You can give it a try and create an avatar on selfieslamgame.com. When you’re done creating your avatar, you can save it or share it with your Facebook friends.

Here’s the kooky avatar I quickly came up with.

Selfie Slam – Play Various Oddball Challenges

Selfie Slam is made up of several odd mini-games. You will get to play oddball challenges like king of the hill, bomber, soccer, or volleyball. Win challenges and you will earn stars, pocket medals, and unlock more arenas and more body parts for your avatar.

It must be mentioned here that you can connect to Facebook and play against your friends. Your kooky avatar will go against your friends’ kooky avatars – and you will all battle one another in all sorts of weird challenges.

Selfie Slam – Available Early in Select Regions

Selfie Slam is currently available in Apple’s App Store but, mind you, only in Canada, Sweden, and Finland. Selfie Slam is a free app that comes with optional in-app purchases.

Rovio did not say when the game will become available in the rest of the world.

In related news, you may want to know that Rovio will publish a new game via Rovio Stars. Rovio will roll out Midoki’s online multiplayer free-for-all Plunder Pirates game come the 18th of September.
