The critically acclaimed, award winning, and very popular Plague Inc. game tasks you with infecting...everyone. The goal in this Ndemic Creations game is to release a plague and have it spread across the world. The pathogen you create infects “patient zero” and then it spreads and spreads, until the whole humankind is infected. The game is available for iOS, Android, and Windows.

I recently rewatched World War Z, the zombie movie that stars Brad Pitt as UN investigator Gerry Lane. Some sort of infection starts turning people into zombies and it is up to Gerry Lane to find “patient zero” and uncover a cure for the infection. The movie emphasizes how a dangerous pathogen can spread and spread, turning the whole world, in this case, into zombies.

The movie reminded me of the critically acclaimed and award winning Plague Inc. game from Ndemic Creations. The game does not task you with fighting zombies or finding a cure for the zombie infection. The game has nothing to do with stopping an infection – and everything to do with spreading an infection. You see, the goal in the game is to release a pathogen and have it spread and spread until it infects everyone around the world.

Several types of plagues are put at your fingertips: bacteria, virus, fungus, parasite, nano-virus, bio-weapon, and so on. There’s even a “necroa virus” plague that, drum rolls please, turns people into zombies. After you select a plague type, you can modify its genetic code and turn it into the ultimate pathogen. Then you can choose where to start the infection; 50+ countries are available.

Several game difficulty levels are available. Casual is great for new players and for those who want a quick game. Normal is great for experienced players with a bit of time on their hands. Brutal and Mega Brutal are great for highly skilled players who can come up with an efficient strategy to infect the whole humankind.

The Plague Inc. game is available for iOS, Android, and Windows.
