Piriform, the privately owned UK software developer dedicated to creating top quality applications for Windows, has recently updated two of its products, mainly Defraggler and Speccy.

Defraggler is the company’s defragmenting application. Offered free of charge to Windows users for personal use, it is a properly good (and portable) application that will rapidly and efficiently defrag the entire hard drive of just individual files. Defraggler has been updated to version 2.04, update that brings an interesting new feature to the table: the option to shutdown the system after finishing a scheduled task has been added.

Defraggler also integrates with Windows Explorer, meaning the functionality it has to offer is never more than a click away. “We've been focusing on ease-of-use for Defraggler v2.04 and we're proud to announce that it now integrates with Windows Explorer. So you can right-click on a selection of files or folders and analyze their fragmentation level. Or just defrag them!” explained Piriform.

Moving on, Speccy is another application offered free of charge by Piriform. It is a system application tool that displays a lot of useful information on what’s under the hood of your computer so to speak. Speccy has been updated to version 1.10.

The update, as Piriform explained, comes wit the following new bits and pieces:
  • Added Find feature.
  • Snapshot (.speccy) files are now associated with Speccy.exe.
  • Improved detection of Antivirus applications.
  • Improved reading of motherboard system temperatures.
  • Fixed bug that could cause DLL not to initialize on some older systems.
  • Improved accuracy of Network Shares in Vista and Windows 7.
  • Improved memory management in graph rendering.
  • UPS Battery Time Remaining format is now easier to read (hh:mm:ss).
  • Lots of language tweaks.
  • Minor bug fixes.
