Piriform, via its CCleaner application, helps you remove the junk that piles up and clutters your Windows PC, your Mac, and even your Android smartphone.

After months of research and development, Piriform rolled out a Beta version of CCleaner for Android. The app is offered for free to those who join Piriform’s Beta Community.

CCleaner for Windows has been around for more than a decade. The application was released way back in 2003 and for more than 10 years it has helped Windows users remove junk from their PCs. Over time the application has gotten better and better, I am glad to say. And, in my case at least, CCleaner has become one of the application’s I cannot do without.

Piriform decided that CCleaner functionality is something that Mac users would appreciate. So Piriform started working on CCleaner for Mac. A Beta version was rolled out in the summer of 2011; a stable version was released at the start of 2012. Mac users from around the world can now get the application and use it to clean their machines.

Piriform eventually decided to take on Google’s Android mobile operating system. Early April 2014, the company announced that it rolled out a Beta version of CCleaner for Android. Anyone who is interested in getting the app can do so for free after they join Piriform’s Beta Community.

The app has the following features to offer (as explained by Piriform on its blog):
  • Optimize - Browser History, Application Cache, Clipboard and more
  • Clean - Call Logs and SMS messages individually, in bulk, by age or by contact
  • Reclaim storage space by quickly removing unwanted applications
  • Monitor your CPU, RAM, storage space and battery levels
In the next few weeks, CCleaner for Android will get even more features:
  • Process management and RAM cleaning
  • Custom folder cleaning
  • Features for rooted devices
  • And much, much more!
