Personas 1.3: Updated Free Firefox Skins from Mozilla
Back in April the Mozilla Foundation announced to the world the release of Personas, yet another means of empowering the user’s ability to get the Firefox browser to look just as good as it performs. Personas, as Mozilla put it at the time, is nothing more than a collection of skins (artist created designs) that one can use to modify the browser’s looks.
“You can personalize your homepage, blog or instant messenger, but you leave your design behind when you visit another webpage or minimize your chat. The only way to personalize your entire online experience is through your browser. With Personas, your design stays with you at each and every point of your time online. And to give you lots of great content to choose from, we have opened the Personas gallery to independent designers from around the world, and also teamed up with popular brands, including Greenpeace, Cynthia Rowley, All American Rejects, and LIVESTRONG,” explained Mozilla at the time.
About a month and a half has passed since Personas 1.0 was rolled out, and during that amount of time the development team behind the software application has been working hard on improving the Personas user experience. An updated version of the extension has been released – Personas 1.3 comes with several key mods:
- Designer detail pages: each artist has his own personal space where to showcase his creations.
- Localized in Additional Languages: Personas, which already provides support for 12 languages (Bulgarian, Czech, Danish, German, English, Spanish, French, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese) is now localized in Polish, Serbian, Turkish, and Chinese.
- Personas 1.3 now works with Thunderbird.
- For each design’s detail page there is a ShareThis link to aid you in sharing your favorite Personas.
- Pagination has been added, meaning that galleries are loaded in sections.
If you would like to get Personas, a download location is available here.
