The official PayPal app for Windows Phone has been released and is now available for download on the Windows Phone Marketplace, for free of course.

Great news for Windows Phone users who have been waiting for PayPal to release an official app for their mobile devices: PayPal 1.0 for Windows Phone has just been released to the public. If you are on Microsoft’s mobile operating system and you want to get the official PayPal app, you can grab it free of charge from the Windows Phone Marketplace here.

The app provides PayPal functionality while you are on the go. Here’s a closer look at what you can expect to get from the official PayPal app for Windows Phone:
  • Send money to friends, pay off loans from the app. If you use Bank or Balance as a funding source, sending money with the PayPal app is free.
  • Request money from others.
  • Manage your PayPal account from your mobile device. Anywhere you are, anytime you want, you can check your balance, view transactions, and withdraw funds.
  • Find local merchants that use the PayPal Here service.

Unveiled this March, PayPal Here is a global mobile payment solution that allows small businesses to accept just about any form of payment. iPhone, Android, and now Windows Phone users can use the PayPal app to pay for the services or goods they acquire.

“Helping small businesses grow and accept payments has been in PayPal’s DNA since its inception 14 years ago,” said PayPal’s vice president of mobile, David Marcus. “We’ve heard small businesses loud and clear. They don’t want to miss sales opportunities because they can’t accept the payment type that their customers want to use. They want quick access to their money, a reliable card reader, and one transparent, low fee to process these payments. I’m thrilled to launch PayPal Here because we’ve been able to bring all of these key features together into a product that’s so simple to use.”
