Panda Security recently announced that it rolled out a new version of Panda Mobile Security, its security solution for smartphones that run Google’s Android mobile operating system.

The cool thing about the latest version of Panda Mobile Security is that it will sound the alarm if someone picks up your Android. This will prevent unauthorized access and, of course, device theft.

Panda Mobile Security has a Motion Alert feature that will detect when someone moves or picks up your phone.

Enable Motion Alert from the Anti-Theft menu and a countdown timer will appear on your smartphone's screen when it’s moved. Unless the correct PIN is provided before the timer runs down, Panda Mobile Security will play a loud alarm.

It’s worth pointing out that the alarm will blare even if your smartphone is muted. It’s also worth pointing out that you can set Motion Alert’s sensitivity and you can choose a custom duration for the countdown timer.

Motion Alert should prevent unauthorized access to your Android – people will know not to mess with your phone otherwise Panda Mobile Security will sound the alarm. Motion Alert should also protect against device theft – put your phone down and rest assured that if someone tries to steal it, Motion Alert will sound the alarm.

And speaking about device theft, Panda Mobile Security has a few other anti-theft features you should know about:
  • View your mobile’s location on a map.
  • Take a picture of whoever tries to unlock your phone with the wrong code.
  • Remotely lock your device.
  • Remotely wipe all the data stored on your device.

If there’s no way of getting your phone back, you’ll want to protect your privacy and remotely wipe all the data that is stored on it. And since we’re speaking about privacy, you’ll be glad to know that Panda Mobile Security has a new Privacy Auditor feature. It analyzes the apps that are installed on your Android and tells you which of them can access your personal data, your contacts list, and your files.

I have to remind you that Panda Security celebrated its 25th this January. I brought this up only to mention that Panda Security, with the aim of marking its 25th anniversary, gave Panda Mobile Security a new look and feel, one that improves usability and makes the interface more streamlined.
