Earlier this month it was Google who took a look back and did a review of the year – the company rolled out the Zeitgeist website and Android app, thus making public several lists that showcase the queries that got the most amount of traffic this year, the most googled artists, the most popular feature films, and more.

“On our 2012 Zeitgeist website, you can explore the most popular and hottest trending search terms from around the world. This year’s site is our most global to date, with a total of 838 lists from 55 countries. We’ve also added a number of new features, including an interactive map that shows where and when some of the hottest terms spiked around the world,” said Amit Singhal, SVP & Google Fellow.

Google-owned and incredibly popular video sharing site YouTube did something similar – it took a look at the year that is quickly coming to an end and put together a list of the most popular videos on YouTube this 2012. As it gathered close to a billion views since its release in July, it is no wonder that PSY's Gangnam Style is at the top of the list.
