Earlier this month Norwegian developer Opera Software announced the winner of its Team Up competition. I remind you that the Grand Prize for the aforementioned competition is $1,000 in cash. And now, without any further ado, the winner of the Grand Prize is, drum rolls please, Jon Packer or @jdpacker, who came up with the Timeline extension for Opera.

Opera Software’s Aleksander Aas said that the Opera team instantly fell in love with the Timeline extension. What does this extension do, you ask? Why it puts your Twitter timeline in your Opera Speed Dial. This way you can view your Twitter stream in your Opera Speed Dial. This sort of functionality is simply fantastic, said Aleksander Aas.

It was back in May that Opera Software announced the Team Up competition. The Norwegian software developer explained at the time that the competition goes something like this: the user proposes an idea for a Speed Dial extension; a developer will get in touch with and team up with the user who came up with the idea, then they wil collaborate to turn that idea into a reality. Developers who have an idea of their own don’t need to team up with a user. They can simply get started on turning their idea for a cool Speed Dial extension into a reality.

As part of the Team Up competition, the first 10 extensions that got submitted and approved into Opera Add-ons catalog received Opera laptop sleeves and stickers. These 10 extensions are as follows:
VeloSamara.ru Opera Extension
Timeline – shows recent tweets in a Speed Dial tile.
Friendly Clock – Analog – shows a clock with a time-related greeting.
Forum Updates Speed Dial – displays new posts, private messages and other events on the forums you follow.
OnAir FM Speed Dial Extension – shows what song is playing on Radio_FM.
Calendar – a monthly calendar.
Browser News – technology and browser-related news.
Quote of the Day – a different motivational quote is displayed every day.
BBC News Speeddial Ticker – a BBC News ticker for Speed Dial.
StarDate – the current star date (should be fun for Star Treck fans).
