Yesterday we were reporting that Opera Software released the first Beta of Opera 11.10 codename Barracuda and a good looking wallpaper called Choose Red. This wallpaper, as Opera Software explained, was released in honor of Neo choosing the red pill.

In the 1999 action, adventure, sci-fi movie The Matrix, Neo is asked by Morpheus to choose between a red and a blue pill. ““This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill - the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill - you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes,” said Morpheus in the movie.

Neo chose the red pill, which resembles Opera’s logo, a big red O. To celebrate Neo’s choice, Opera came up with the Choose Red wallpaper. Check out a preview of the wallpaper below; links to download the wallpaper beneath the preview.

Moving on, Community Manager with Opera Software, Espen Andre Øverdahl, announced yesterday that the design of the Choose Opera group has been modified and that a wallpaper based on the new design has been released.

“Today we went live with a new design for this group, Choose Opera. It's made by community member Dustin Wilson Dustin Wilson on Twitter. We think it looks fantastic and this is an amazing display of talent. We've also uploaded several wallpapers you can use to either decorate your desktop background or pimp up your Speed Dial. Enjoy!” said Espen.

I mentioned above that Opera 11.10 Beta codename Barracuda has been released. This Beta release, which you can grab straight from Opera Software here, has the following to boast about:
  • It is faster than previous Opera versions.
  • There are now an unlimited number of entries in Speed Dial. The new Speed Dial flow feature in Opera 11.10 Beta opens new Speed Dials dynamically as you add them. Check out a video presentation of Opera 11.10 Beta's new Speed Dial on YouTube here.
  • New layout choices
  • An improved zoom slider.
  • Can automatically download the Flash plugin and install it in the background.
  • Added support for CSS3's multi-column layouts and gradients, the Web Open Font Format (WOFF) and Google's WebP image protocol.
