This November, at the start of the month, the Opera Software team announced the release of Opera Mobile 10 Beta 10 for Symbian. The software came with an updated look, tabbed browsing, Speed Dial, password manager, the latest generation Opera browser engine, and all the other goodies that make Opera a great browser. Later that same month Opera Software announced that it also released Opera Mobile 10 Beta 1 for Windows Mobile-powered devices. Opera Mobile 10 Beta 1 for Windows Mobile delivered the same goodies as Opera Mobile 10 for Symbian – and not by coincidence.

CEO of Opera Software, Jon von Tetzchner, explained: “We are unifying our products, so that users get the same experience, no matter the device or which particular Opera browser they are using. With Opera Mobile 10, we are raising the expectations of how a mobile browser should perform. Today, users require a browser as powerful as the Web, one that can handle their daily tasks as well as their computers. That’s Opera.”

The Opera Software team has been working hard on Opera Mobile 10. Consequently they just announced the release of the second Beta of Opera Mobile 12 – for Symbian as well as Windows Mobile. The software releases continue Opera’s mission to unify its browser products. With that in mind, here is what you can expect to get from Opera Mobile 10 Beta 2 (for Symbian and Windows Mobile alike):
  • Opera Link
  • Download manager
  • For touch devices, the user interface is more finger-friendly
  • Column snapping available for touch devices
  • The user can manage search engines
  • The browser now remembers page position and zoom state when moving in history
  • Better memory management
  • Fixed mobile view crash
  • Start page available from touch menu
  • Numerous minor bugs have been fixes
  • Clear cache setting

“For Opera, status quo is not an option. We are always improving our products, adding new functionality and features to deliver a faster and more personal Web experience,” said Jon von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera Software. “Also, unifying the look and feel, regardless of device, makes it easy for anyone to get online anywhere, anytime.”
