Version 16 of Opera’s mobile browser for Android has just been rolled out to the public. Leaving other fixes and improvements aside, we will focus on the new “Instant Back” feature the browser has to offer.

Say you’re browsing a website and you jump from page to page. Since this is Opera’s fastest browser for Android, you will be able to quickly load those webpages – which is quite nice. What isn’t nice is having to reload a webpage when you hit the Back button. This is an issue that has been addressed by the Norwegian team. Opera 16 for Android features a new “Instant Back” feature: when you click the Back button, the browser loads the webpage from the cache so you get instant access to that webpage.

Is started this article by saying that I will leave other fixes and improvements aside and focus on the “Instant Back” feature. Now that I’m done presenting this new feature, here’s a quick look at what other things are new in Opera 16 for Android: based on Chromium 29, improved download manager, improved NFC communication, various stability and performance fixes.

You can get Opera 16 for Android from Google Play for free.

You can also get Opera 16 for Android (and other mobile platforms) from m.opera.com.

In related Android and mobile browsing news, Mozilla rolled out Firefox 24 for Android (as well as Firefox 24 for desktop machines). This version has several cool new features to offer: share open tabs via NFC, easily access your favorite share app from the main menu, support for WebRTC has been enabled, improved Night Mode in Reader, and more. Check out these release notes if you want a complete “what’s new” list for Mozilla’s mobile browser.

You can get Firefox 24 for Android for free from the Play Store here.
