Here are a couple of Opera-related news that I thought I would present together. The first news is that Opera Software, the Norwegian developer behind the popular web browser, announced the release of Opera 11.11 for Windows, Mac and UNIX. This update is supposed to make the Opera browser a safer and more stable platform – or to put it in other words, it is a security and stability update.

Opera 11 users will be presented with an automatic update prompt. Alternatively they can manually trigger an update by going to Help -> Check for Updates, or by downloading Opera 11.11 here.
Tech-heads who want to know precisely what’s changed can check out the official change logs here.

The second news is that Bulgarian users can get a customized version of Opera Mini courtesy of Opera Software, Mobiltel and Vodafone. And more to the point, Mobiltel and Opera Software, through their partner market agreement with Vodafone, now offer a customized version of Opera Mini to Bulgarian users. More than 5 million Mobiltel customers in Bulgaria will have access to Opera Mini, a browser that works on more than 3,000 different phone models and offers a faster mobile web experience. The customized Bulgarian version will offer an innovative compression technology and a unique set of preconfigured local websites and services.

Mobiltel customers can get Opera Mini by downloading it on their mobile phone from live.mtel.bg or by sending a text message to 124 – the message must say “opera”.

“Opera Mini has become the most loved mobile web adventure in the world,” said Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera Software. “The reason is that everyone can join, regardless of whether they use a smartphone or feature phone. We are happy that Telekom Austria Group, one of the most innovative operators in Europe, will help us to expand this adventure in Central Europe.”

“Opera Mini is the most used mobile Internet browser in the world and provides our customers, using a range from low cost handsets to smartphones, with an even faster full Internet experience by using less data,” said Andreas Maierhofer, Chief Executive Officer, Mobiltel.
