As the development process of the Opera 10, codename Peregrine moves forward, the team behind the web browser has announced the fact that it reached another milestone with the release of Opera 10 Beta for Windos, Mac OS X and Linux-powered systems. The release follows in the footsteps of Opera 10 Beta 1, which came with plenty of goodies also (details here).

Opera 10 Beta 2 (build 1643) highlights:
- Polished browser skin.
- UI changes: restyled Home Button, new icons for the chat window status, an icon for when Opera Turbo is activated, a Synchronize Opera button on the Speed Dial page, inverted tab icons for panels viewed as tabs, new icons for DOM Console, Who is, Send File, Spell Check, Authormode, and Usermode.
- Password Manager with context-menu support.
- Numerous core and bug fixes
- Opera Unite changes: Home changed to My Opera Unite page
- Improved panel appearance for the Mac version of Opera 10.
- Opera Wand is now called Password Manager and Transfers is called Downloads.

A full list of changes is available in the release notes; separate for Windows, Mac and Linux.

All these highlights are of course on top of those provided by Opera 10 Beta 1:
- Visual tabs, which are hidden by default.
- Speed Dial with support for more than 9 sites.
- Customizable Speed Dial background.
- Opera Turbo for faster browsing speeds on a slow internet connection.
- Automatic updates: the browser will update itself automatically whenever a new version is rolled out.
- New crashlogging tool.
- New inline spelling checker.
- Automatically remove messages from POP servers after a specific amount of time has passed.
- Improved Opera Presto 2.2 rendering engine.

Alongside Opera 10 Beta 2, the development team behind the software has made available for download a snapshot build that comes with Opera Unite alongside all the fixes and features Beta 2 has to offer. On behalf of the Desktop Team, Manuela Hutter, explains: “In this build, you'll find everything that Opera 10.00 beta 2 has, plus Opera Unite. Due to remaining issues with the Opera Unite infrastructure, it has been decided that Unite isn't quite ready for beta yet. But don't worry, we're working hard to fix it.

If you would like to get the official Opera 10 Beta 2, a download location is available here.
You can download the snapshot build with Opera Unite included, a download location is avaialble here here (available for Windows, Mac and Linux).
