IMDb, my favorite place to find information about movies and TV shows, just turned 26 on October 17, 2016. In celebration of IMDb’s 26th anniversary, IMDb founder and CEO Col Needham shared that he managed to watch 10,000 unique movies in his lifetime.

The 10,000th movie Needham watched is A Monster Calls, an emotional drama starring Sigourney Weaver, Felicity Jones, Toby Kebbell, Lewis MacDougall, and Liam Neeson. The movie’s about a boy who seeks the help of a tree monster to cope with his single mom's terminal illness.

Col Needham had nothing but words of praise for the movie and the cast:

"A Monster Calls, the 10,000th individual movie I’ve watched, is an utterly unique and emotionally powerful film – an instant classic. It has already earned the #1 spot on my top 10 movies of 2016 list. I am a big fan of Felicity Jones, who received IMDb’s STARmeter Award last month just prior to A Monster Calls’ world premiere at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival. It is also noteworthy to me that Felicity’s co-star in this movie is Sigourney Weaver, who stars in Aliens, my #6 film of all time. I am delighted that A Monster Calls, a movie that resonates with me on so many levels, has become a milestone in my personal viewing history, which I track diligently via my IMDb Watchlist.”

Col Needham had something else to share on IMDb’s 26th anniversary. For the first time ever, his all-time top 10 movies.

Just like several other companies, IMDb has a very fun 404 message. Not only is it amusing, it can also serve as inspiration for when you want to watch a movie but you don't know what movie to watch.
