Office for Mac 2011 Coming this October at a Reasonable Price

The latest iteration of the Microsoft Office productivity suite, on the Windows front, is Office 2010 – this version has been released this June and Microsoft has already touted the 7 reasons why you should try it out. On the Mac front, the latest iteration of the Office productivity suite will be Office for Mac 2011.

Until now we did not know when Office for Mac 2011 would be rolled out. All we knew is that it would be released later this year. Microsoft recently made an announcement that answered all our questions about when Office for Mac would be released – Microsoft announced that the productivity suite would be released this October. At the end of October Office for Mac 2011 will become available for purchase in more than 100 countries around the world.

“We develop Office for Mac to give you the tools to create great-looking and compatible documents — with options to pick the right edition for your Mac needs,” said Eric Wilfrid, general manager, Macintosh Business Unit (MacBU) at Microsoft Corp. “More than ever before, Office 2011 brings the familiar productivity tools and features of Microsoft Office to a suite of applications that work great on the Mac.”

Two versions of Office for Mac 2011 will be rolled out this October and they will be priced as follows (please note that all prices are US estimated retail prices):

Office for Mac Home and Student 2011
  • $119 for a single install
  • $149 for a Family Pack that includes 3 installs
  • Includes Word for Mac, PowerPoint for Mac, Excel for Mac and Messenger for Mac.

Office for Mac Home and Business 2011
  • $199 for a single install
  • $279 for a Multi-Pack that includes 2 installs
  • Includes Word for Mac, PowerPoint for Mac, Excel for Mac, Outlook for Mac and Messenger for Mac.

Microsoft will also market Microsoft Office for Mac Academic 2011 for $99 (1 install) at authorized academic stores and online. This version was created for higher education students, staff and faculty; it includes Word for Mac, PowerPoint for Mac, Excel for Mac, Outlook for Mac and Messenger for Mac.

All Office for Mac 2011 versions will be available in 13 languages: Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Spanish, Swedish, Polish and Russian.
