BitTorrent, the company that develops and maintains the BitTorrent protocol as well as the BitTorrent and the uTorrent software applications, has recently announced that it is working on a very novice-friendly BitTorrent client for Windows and it announced that it released a new Beta version of uTorrent for Mac that comes with some interesting new features.

Starting with the Windows version of uTorrent, BitTorrent has released a very early Alpha build of a new BitTorrent client codenamed Project Chrysalis. If you know what you’re doing, if you like to test software, then BitTorrent would like you to download the Alpha build and give it a nice going over. The end result of Project Chrysalis will not be a BitTorrent client meant for the technical savvy user; the goal is to come up with a very novice-friendly client.

“Chrysalis is a major change for BitTorrent – a metamorphosis of features and style. The goal is make downloading torrents easier, intuitive and more streamlined, while retaining all of the power and sophistication you currently enjoy at the core,” explained BitTorrent.

Moving on, BitTorrent recently announced that it rolled out a new version of its uTorrent for Mac client, mainly uTorrent Beta 1.5 that you can download here. BitTorrent explained that this latest Beta release comes with the following new features:

Scheduler – you can set it up so that uTorrent will start, limit and stop activity at regular intervals throughout the week.
Feeds – you can now subscribe and follow torrent RSS feeds and you can set up Smart Feeds to automatically fetch torrents and start downloads.
Advanced controls and info – BitTorrent explains: “Want more control and information about what’s happening behind the scenes? Upgraded logging features include much more detail. Also, feel free to access the double-secret-super-advanced preferences (they’re hidden behind CMD+OPT+,). Use sparingly and wisely.
uTorrent Remote – with uTorrent Remote you can control your uTorrent client from anywhere. If you have an Android-powered device, you can get the uTorrent Remote app from the Android Market. You can get it by accessing the Android Market on your Android-powered device, by accessing the Android Market on the web (click here) and then installing the app over-the-air, or by scanning the QR code below.
