After announcing that it turned on HTTPS for everyone, the team behind the popular micro-blogging and social networking site announced that the new Twitter.com website is now available to everyone.

The new Twitter version that was released to the public back in December 2011 and was slowly rolled out to Twitter.com every since, was until now available to those who accessed Twitter via their mobile phones and to those who visited fly.twitter.com. As of this month, the new version of Twitter, which features a simplified design, is available to everyone. Visit Twitter.com and you will have access to the new version of Twitter.

Before you go visit Twitter.com perhaps you would like to know what the new version of Twitter has to offer. Here’s a brief list, to keep things nice and short:
  • When you click a tweet from your timeline it will expand to display photos, videos, retweets, and more. Press L on your keyboard to close all expanded tweets.
  • Keep the conversation going, see who followed or mentioned out, see who retweeted your tweets with Connect. To jump to the Connect tab, just press GC on your keyboard.
  • Access a stream of useful and entertaining info that reflects your interests with Discover. To access the Discover tab just press GD on your keyboard.
  • Embedding tweets on your personal website is as simple as copying and pasting a line of code.

I mentioned above that Twitter turned on HTTPS for everyone. Back in March 2011, the Twitter team announced that it added an option so that securityo-oriented users could log into Twitter on an a secure, encrypted connection (HTTPS). Earlier this month Twitter turned on HTTPS for everyone – the secure, encrypted connection is now the default.
