Smartphones running on the Windows Mobile operating system will, as of today, be able to run a new version of Fring - Fring 3.34. For those of you that are not familiar with Fring, it is a nifty piece of software that allows you to connect and keep an eye on your Skype, Yahoo!, MSN Messenger, Google Talk, Twitter, ICQ, SIP, and AIM accounts. All that Fring needs is an internet connection, and you smartphone surely has that.

It must be said that Fring 3.34 will work on any Windows Mobile-powered device, including the brand new Sony Ericsson Xperia and Samsung Omnia. It must also be noted that the Apple developed iPhone which runs on the iPhone OS 2.2 has not been left behind – Fring works on the iPhone as well.

“In this version, you’ll find the new & improved Fring Add-ons – fun, interactive mobile internet apps that sit inside your Fring, allowing you to take your Facebook account mobile, receive Gmail notifications and loads more. Plus, we’ve included our popular File Transfer function – you can now send digital files to all your fring, Skype, MSN & Yahoo buddies at the click of a button. No need for Bluetooth pairing, no wires, no infrared and no costly MMS charges. Just select a buddy, click send, and before you can say “Who’s seen my data cable?” the file has been received,” explains the official Fring blog.

If you would like to keep an eye on several IM accounts at once, but do not have an internet connected phone, you could do this directly from your computer with programs such as Trillian 3.1.12.0, Pidgin 2.5.3 or the web based Meebo which recently received support for MySpaceIM and Facebook Chat (the service already featured support for instant messaging clients like Yahoo , MSN , AIM , Google Talk, ICQ and Jabber).

If you would like to get Fring, a download location is available here.
