The development process of the Firefox browser has reached another milestone, the Mozilla Foundation recently announced. This new milestone is the release of Firefox 3.6 Beta 2. It should be noted that Mozilla released Firefox Beta 1 about two weeks ago. The fact that this is Beta 2 and not Beta 1, doesn’t mean the software is more stable or anything like that. It’s still a Beta, so I can prove to be a bit buggy. So download it if you want, but unless you are a tester, early adopter of Firefox enthusiast, then it would be best to wait for the final version to be rolled out.

“The Mozilla community published Firefox 3.6 Beta 2, and issued an update for all Firefox 3.6 beta users. This update contains over 190 fixes from the last Firefox 3.6 beta, containing many improvements for web developers, Add-on developers, and users. The Mozilla community appreciates your feedback and assistance in testing this preview of the next version of Firefox. Your beta software will update itself periodically, and eventually will be updated to the final release itself,” explained Mozilla.

Firefox 3.6 Beta 2 comes with the following new features:
- Added new mechanism that prevents Firefox from crashing when dealing with incompatible software.
- Built-in support for Firefox Personas.
- The user will be alerted when a plugin needs to be updated.
- Full screen and poster frames support for open, native video.
- WOFF font format support.
- The performance of the JavaScript engine has been enhanced.
- New CSS, DOM and HTML5 web technologies support.

If you would like to get Firefox 3.6 Beta 2, a download location is available
here.
Again, Firefox 3.6 is still in Beta. As Mozilla Evangelist Christopher Blizzard once said, it will “eat your data and burn your house down.” He was joking of course. In all seriousness now, as a Beta the software may crash ,lose data, and basically ruin your day.
