Greg Grunberg, the actor that plays police officer endowed with telepathic abilities Matt Parkman in the science fiction series “Heroes” has helped develop an iPhone app called “Yowza!” which is provided free of charge and serves the purpose of finding you coupons. The app is location aware and will tell you if coupons for shops in that location are currently available; alternatively you can perform a manual search by providing the city name or zip code. Once you find a coupon that interests you, simply walk to the store’s register and the cashier will scan the barcodes directly off your device.

When you fire up the Yowza iPhone app, it will automatically perform a coupon search over a radius that you get to set up – a radius ranging from 1 to 5 or 15 miles. The coupons are displayed according to the store they can be used in; just tap on any store to see what it has to offer. Once you find a store, a product and a coupon to your liking, just head on over there and purchase that item.

Here are the features you can expect to get with Yowza!:
- Deals negotiated specifically for Yowza! users.
- Instant location based results.
- Perform coupon searches according to city and zip code.
- Favorite your coupons so it will be easy to retrieve them at the register.
- Savings tracker. While this feature is a welcomed one, it is not as trouble free as you might imagine: you have to add the savings manually into Yowza!, because the app does not automatically add the 10% off an $100 item to your savings. It is simple enough to calculate 10% off $100, but what if the discount is 15% off an $149 item? It would be a lot more convenient to let the app do the math and add the discount to your savings total.
- The cashier needs only scan the barcodes off your iPhone.
- Deals and stores are added to the app on a daily basis.
- Coupon offers will in the near future be made available for users outside the US.

If you would like to get Yowza!, an iTunes download location is available here.
