Facebook recently rolled out a new standalone iOS and Android app called Moments. What it does is it helps people easily share photos. You can use it to get photos from friends and to give photos to friends.

Say you go to a party and take some cool photos off your friends. Surely they’ll want to get those photos from you. Thanks to Facebook’s new Moments app, you’ll be able to easily share the photos you took with your friends.

Facebook Moments – Main features
  • Automatic sorting – photos are automatically sorted based on when they were taken and based on who is in them (facial recognition technology is used to identify who is in the picture).
  • Sync photos – the sync function lets you share photos with your friends and lets your friends share photos with you. Moments can sync groups of photos to the friends you select.
  • Search for photos – search and find photos of yourself or photos of your friends.
  • Save photos – photos your friends synced with you can be saved to your phone.
  • Availability – Moments is available for iOS on Apple’s App Store and for Android on Google Play. The app just launched in the US and will be rolling out to more countries over time.

For additional information on Facebook Moments, visit the app’s official website. A video that presents Moments is available on vimeo and embedded below.

Moments is a Facebook Creative Labs app. Facebook Creative Labs is the place where Facebook crafts new apps to support the diverse ways people want to connect and share.

I remind you that before Moments, Creative Labs released Hello, a caller ID and call blocking app for Android.

If you want to easily share photos between an iPhone, Android, or Windows Phone, you’ll want to check out BitTorrent’s new Shoot app. It works like this: pick the photos you want to share -> a QR code appears onscreen -> have your friends scan the QR code to receive the photos you shared.
