Apple, after announcing the MobileMe iDisk app (for iPhone and iPod) at the Worldwide Developer's Conference (WWDC), has now officially released it, about one month after the announcement. So if you are a MobileMe customer hurry up and get the app – you can use it to access files you and your MobileMe contacts have stored on Apple’s servers and you don’t have to pay anything to get it. It’s free because you are already paying for the MobileMe subscription.

“With MobileMe iDisk, you can view and share the files on your iDisk right from your iPhone or iPod touch. Log in with your MobileMe username and password and you’ll see a list of the folders ad files on your iDisk. Select a file to view it on your iPhone. To share a file with someone else, just tap the share icon, choose your recipients, and MobileMe iDisk will send them an email with a link to download your file directly from MobileMe. You can assign a password to keep your files secure and even limit the number of days the download will be available - all from your iPhone,” says the app’s official description.

The MobileMe iDisk app comes in 4 different flavors: English, French, German and Japanese. In order to run the app, you need to have a MobileMe subscription – first and foremost. If you do not have a subscription, you can set up a free 60-day trial here. Then you are going to need an iPhone or iPod touch that runs on the iPhone OS 3.0.
