Back in July, Microsoft rolled out a preview version of Catan Anytime, game developed as part of a collaboration between Microsoft’s Internet Explorer team and the creators of The Settlers of Catan, Mayfair Games and Bontom Games.

This September, Microsoft announced that Catan Anytime “sprouted out of preview”. Catan Anytime, the free web version of the popular board game The Settlers of Catan, is now available to fans all over the world.

Catan Anytime is Microsoft’s version of the very popular board game The Settlers of Catan. Microsoft, as part of the Rethink IE campaign, collaborated with the board game’s creators, Mayfair Games and Bontom Games, and came up with a free online version called Catan Anytime.

Back in July, Microsoft rolled out a preview version of Catan Anytime. It came with the following features:
  • Try a turn to check out the gameplay or register and play the game in your browser.
  • You can invite your friends via email or Facebook.
  • Three players are need to start the game.
  • Turn-based asynchronous gameplay.
  • Auto-trade and auto-roll features.
  • Click a button to produce resources (this replaces the dice roll).
  • Choose to get notifications.
  • In-built chat and access to Skype and Twitter.
It is now September and I am glad to say that Catan Anytime is no longer a preview version.

“Today, Catan Anytime comes out of preview to deliver a new and free online version based on the beloved board game The Settlers of Catan,” announced Divya Kumar, Product Marketing Manager, Internet Explorer “Catan Anytime is the entirely new web version that is modern, easy to play, designed for touch – and available on any device.”

Visit CatanAnytime.com to start playing the game. Invite friend to play via email or Facebook. You can enjoy Catan Anytime in your browser, on any device, anywhere.
