With the Release Candidate of Windows 7 just around the corner (TechNet and MSDN subscribers to get it on April 30th, general users to get it on May 5h – FAQ here) and with Windows 7 GA (General Availability) drawing closer and closer, Microsoft would like to make sure that you are properly capable of using all the features and functionality the operating system has to offer. Consequently the “Windows 7 Learning Portal” and the “Talking About Windows” web page just went live.

The Windows 7 Learning Portal is a place where you can gain access to all sorts of info regarding the Windows-based OS: articles, e-books, videos, and so on. There is already quite a few items to go through, but you can expect this offering to grow as time passes.

MCT Community Lead with Microsoft Learning, Tjeerd Veninga, explains: “Check this great new resource and please add it to your favorites as the content here will grow and grow as we get you ready for Windows 7. An operating system so cool and sexy that you will want to marry it. As always, you get so much more out of the product if you take some time to learn more about it. You can learn about Windows 7 today, and in so many ways: Take a Learning snack and learn online in just a few minutes. Get a Microsoft Press book, the portal below offers you free chapters today and the books will be out soon! We will soon have a range of e-learning courses.”

There is one other way you can get some interesting info regarding Windows 7, mainly the recently launched Talking About Windows web page. As Windows Communications Manager on the Windows Client Communications Team, Brandon LeBlanc, puts it, the site is the place to get a “behind-the-scenes look at the making of Windows 7 from the Microsoft engineers who helped build product as well as showcasing real IT Professionals talking candidly about their implementations and experiences in considering a more modern OS.”
