Microsoft’s Windows 10 operating system will launch this summer. It will launch in 190 countries and will be available in 111 languages.

Windows Hello, a biometric authentication solution, will make passwords obsolete. It will allow you to unlock your Windows 10 devices with your face, iris, or fingerprint.

Here are a couple of interesting news from Redmond-based software giant Microsoft.

The first one is that the upcoming Windows 10 operating system will launch this summer. Microsoft did not offer a precise date – but it did say that the OS will launch in 190 countries around the world and will be available in 111 languages.

Back in January, Microsoft held a special event and unveiled more details about its Windows 10 operating system. One of those details was that Windows 10 will be offered as a free upgrade to existing customers. So when Windows 10 launches internationally this summer, expect to be able to upgrade for free.

The second one is that Microsoft introduced Windows Hello with the aim of making Windows 10 more personal and more secure. What is Windows Hello? It is a biometric authentication solution. What can it do? It lets you instantly access your Windows 10 devices. Instead of using a password to unlock your devices, you can use your face, your iris, or your fingerprint.

“With Windows Hello, you’ll be able to just show your face, or touch your finger, to new devices running Windows 10 and be immediately recognized,” explained Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore. “And not only is Windows Hello more convenient than typing a password—it’s more secure! Our system enables you to authenticate applications, enterprise content, and even certain online experiences without a password being stored on your device or in a network server at all.
