Microsoft Brings Back the Family Pack on Windows 7's First Anniversary
As you may remember, the latest and greatest Windows version, Windows 7, hit the market on the 22nd of October 2009. Next month the operating system will celebrate its first anniversary and to celebrate, Redmond-based software giant Microsoft is bringing back the Family Pack offer.
Thanks to Windows 7 Family Pack, you can get a version of the operating system and install it on a total of 3 computers. This is especially useful if you have multiple computers in your home. Back in 2009 you could get 3 Windows 7 Home Premium licenses for $144.99. Microsoft announced that the price has not changed – the Windows 7 Family pack that Microsoft will bring back this October will cost the same as it did in 2009.
“Starting October 3 in the U.S., Windows 7 Family Pack will be available for purchase at participating retailers and online at the Microsoft Store. Purchasing the Windows 7 Family Pack gives you three upgrade licenses of Windows 7 Home Premium for the low price of $149.99. For those of you who don’t live in the U.S., Family Pack may be coming your way too. It goes on sale in Canada, UK, Germany, France, Australia and many other markets on or after Oct. 22,” announced Ashley Brown, Public Relations Manager, Windows Consumer Media at Microsoft.
Brown explained that in order to take advantage of the Family Pack offer, you need to have a PC running on a genuine version of Windows XP or Windows Vista. You also need to ensure your configuration is compatible with Windows 7. There is an application that can tell you if your system can handle Windows 7. That application is the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor. This application will go over your configuration and tell you if your machine can run Windows 7 smoothly and if your devices and installed programs are compatible with Windows 7.
