Microsoft Announces Age of Empires Online

Great news for all Age of Empires fans out there. Redmond-based software giant Microsoft recently announced that it added one new offering to the franchise – Age of Empires Online. The new offering is meant to redefine real-time strategy games for Windows-powered computers, said Microsoft.

“Today, we’re bringing powerful, inventive gaming experiences to the Windows-based PC,” said Phil Spencer, corporate vice president of Microsoft Game Studios. “Over the years, our PC heritage captured the hearts and minds of millions of players. Reinventing these iconic franchises with social, shared experiences at their core marks the beginning of our return to PC gaming in bold new ways.”

Here is what you can expect to get from Age of Empires Online:
- This is Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) game that blends strategy and RPG
- You can compete against your friends, or team up with them
- There will be leveling and quests and trading.
- You get to create a living online world that continues to grow. You start with a village and build up your own empire.
- 24/7 online access to the game.
- The persistent capital city lives and grows regardless of the fact that you are offline.
- The storylines are fun, the characters are quirky.
- Free-to-play experiences via Games for Windows – LIVE.

“Developed by Robot Entertainment, 'Age of Empires Online' will invite players to create a living, growing online world, shared with friends and friendly rivals around the globe.
