MeetMe, the leading social network for meeting new people in the US and the public market leader for social discovery, was glad to announce that the MeetMe app for Android has been downloaded more than 20 million times from Google Play.

The company did not say how successful the MeetMe app for iOS is and did not say how well the recently released MeetMe app for Windows Phone is doing.

20 million MeetMe downloads from Google Play

If you have an Android phone, get the MeetMe app from Google Play and use it to find and meet people, people who share your interests. If you want to know just how popular the app is, then you’ll be glad to find out that it has been downloaded more than 20 million times from Google Play.

“Passing 20 million downloads on Google Play is a testament to the team’s hard work to make MeetMe the best place to meet new people everywhere,” said Geoff Cook, CEO of MeetMe. “We are thrilled that in recent months over half of our new downloads on Android are international, and we look forward to more growth, both in the US and internationally, as we continue to enhance the application to make more, high quality matches.”

MeetMe is available for iOS too

The MeetMe app is available for Apple’ iOS mobile operating system as well; it is available for download on Apple’s App Store for free. Do note that the app requires iOS 7.0 or later, that it is optimized for iPhone 5, and that it is compatible with the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

At the start of the year, MeeMe revamped MeetMe for iPad, making it look more like the iPhone and Android versions. And speaking about the iPhone and Android versions, MeetMe introduced a new Chat Suggestions feature in April. Chat Suggestions in the MeetMe app for iPhone and Android recommends new people to chat with based on a number of attributes that may signal relevance and compatibility.

MeetMe for Windows Phone arrived this June

This June, the MeetMe app for Windows Phone landed on Microsoft’s Windows Phone Store. Thanks to this release, Windows Phone users could finally use an app instead of having to open the MeetMe mobile website.

“We are excited to bring the MeetMe app to Windows Phone users,” said Geoff Cook, CEO of MeetMe. “Before we launched the Windows app, approximately 10% of all mobile web sessions came from Windows Phone. With the app now available, we expect our number of Windows Phone users to increase, especially as we continue to grow in the United States, India, and Brazil, which are some of Windows Phone Store's larger markets.”
